Living Our Core Values

Consistent with our Core Values of “Compassion” and “Just Fix It”, the Newman team makes daily practice of showing respect and dignity to its stakeholders.

A client recently called us to tell is she was experiencing a financial hardship. She and her husband bought long term care insurance policies from us 15 years earlier and two years ago she had experienced a 40 percent increase on her policy premium. She was able to decrease her maximum benefit from unlimited to 5 years which allowed her to go back to her original premium.

However, a year later, her husband died and she called us to say she was now having problems paying monthly premium on her policy. One of our employees listened carefully and empathetically and said that she would get back to her with some options.

Our employee discovered that the women and her husband had bought long term care insurance policies with a “survivorship” clause. The survivorship clause provided that if one spouse predeceased the other, that the surviving spouse would have their premiums paid up for life. The insurance company had overlooked this benefit when her husband died. Our employee, working with the insurance company, got the women’s policy reinstated to an unlimited benefit, one year’s premium refunded and her policy paid up for the rest of her life.

Our employee was able to call the client within 24 hours with the issue entirely resolved and a refund check in the mail. The client called the owner of our company in tears wanting to make sure to tell us how this employee had treated her so kindly and compassionately.
