The Longest Day

Every year on the summer solstice, the Alzheimer’s Association® holds a team event called The Longest Day. This event is meant to raise money and spread awareness for those battling Alzheimer’s disease as well as their caregivers. From sunrise to sunset, teams are expected to create their own experiences and participate in any activity they enjoy to honor and fund-raise for those who suffer from this disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is the leading cause for an individual to need long term care. According to AALTCI Executive Director Jesse Slome, Alzheimer’s affects one in 8 persons age 65 and older. With a high number of individuals suffering from this disease, the reasons to investigate long term care planning options also increases.
